Safety & Compliance — Certifications and Regulatory Standing

Our Commitment to Safety & Compliance

In the world of expedition travel, particularly in a remote and dynamic environment like the Alor archipelago, safety is not a feature—it is the foundation upon which every extraordinary experience is built. Alor Diving Expeditions operates with an unwavering commitment to the well-being of our guests and crew. This commitment is demonstrated through our rigorous adherence to Indonesian and international safety standards, our comprehensive regulatory compliance, and our proactive, protocol-driven approach to risk management.

Regulatory Compliance & Licensing

We operate with full transparency and in complete compliance with the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Our legal and regulatory standing is impeccable, providing our guests and partners with total peace of mind.

  • Tourism Business License (SIUP PARIWISATA): We hold a valid tour operator license issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, authorizing us to conduct commercial tourism activities throughout Indonesia.
  • Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP): As a registered Indonesian entity under the Juara Holding Group, we are a compliant taxpayer, contributing to the national and regional economy.
  • Maritime Compliance: Our vessels are flagged in Indonesia and hold a valid Surat Persetujuan Berlayar (SPB) or Port Clearance for every voyage, issued by the local harbormaster (Syahbandar). This certifies that the vessel is seaworthy, properly manned, and compliant with all regulations from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation.
  • Crew Social Security (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan): Every single one of our Indonesian crew members is registered and covered under the national social security program for employment, which includes work-related injury, life insurance, and pension benefits.

Vessel & Equipment Safety

Our fleet is maintained to a standard that exceeds local requirements. We invest heavily in the best equipment and preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and safety at sea.

  • Onboard Safety Equipment: Our vessels are equipped with modern safety gear, including SOLAS-approved life rafts, life jackets for all passengers and crew, EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon), satellite phones, VHF/SSB radios, GPS navigation systems, and comprehensive first aid and emergency oxygen kits.
  • Dive Safety Equipment: Our dive operations feature a Bauer compressor with a regularly inspected air filtration system to ensure pure, clean air. We have DAN (Divers Alert Network) emergency oxygen kits and first aid supplies readily available on both the main vessel and the dive tenders.
  • Preventative Maintenance: We follow a strict preventative maintenance schedule for all critical systems, including engines, generators, navigation equipment, and dive compressors. All maintenance is logged and reviewed by our Head of Operations, Bapak Ismail Hasan.

Operational Protocols & Emergency Preparedness

We don’t just have the right equipment; we have highly trained people and robust protocols to manage any situation that may arise.

  • Crew Training: Our crew undergoes regular training in emergency procedures, including firefighting, man-overboard drills, and first aid/CPR. Our dive guides are all certified PADI Rescue Divers or higher and are trained Emergency First Response (EFR) providers.
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP): We have a comprehensive EAP that outlines clear procedures for a range of potential scenarios, from medical emergencies to vessel issues. This plan includes contact information for the nearest medical facilities, hyperbaric chambers, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).
  • Dive Briefings: Every dive is preceded by a thorough briefing that covers the dive plan, potential hazards, safety procedures, and hand signals. We conduct buddy checks before every single dive without exception.
  • Partnership with Medical Services: We have a standing agreement with international medical assistance providers for consultation and, if necessary, medical evacuation coordination. We know the fastest routes and best logistical channels to get from our operational area to higher-level medical care in Kupang, Bali, or beyond.

Our meticulous approach to safety and compliance is a non-negotiable aspect of our identity. It is this professional diligence that allows our guests to relax and fully immerse themselves in the adventure of our Alor diving expeditions, confident they are in the safest possible hands.
