What do Alor expedition prices actually cover?
We are a concierge, not a boat owner. We curate and arrange your trip through licensed, established Alor operators such as Dive Alor Dive, Nautika Dive Alor and Alami Alor. The figure you pay bundles the diving, your bed, boat fuel and guides, transfers and the government-set fees.
We publish no rate card. There is no public, citable price list for Alor dive packages, liveaboards or the marine park fee — only the requirement that a fee and permit be paid. Every expedition is quoted per diver once we have your dates, party and experience level.
The marine park fee is passed through at cost. It is set by the MPA authority and confirmed when your permit is issued, so we never bury it in a headline rate. All divers attend a mandatory officer briefing, pay the fee and hold a permit before any marine activity.

Two formats
Liveaboard or land-based — which costs more?
Land-based is usually the lower nightly cost. A liveaboard costs more per night but folds cabins, all meals and remote-site access into one figure.
If your target is schooling fish, mola mola or a shot at pelagics, the liveaboard premium buys you distance and time on the water.

The only accurate Alor price is one built around your exact dates and experience level, because currents, permits and partner availability shift by season.
DAN or equivalent dive-accident insurance is non-negotiable and quoted separately. Alor is remote, the nearest hyperbaric chamber is in Bali, and evacuation and chamber costs are not covered by standard medical insurance.

01 Why don't you publish Alor expedition prices?
Because there is no public, citable price list for Alor dive packages, liveaboards or the marine park fee — only the requirement that a fee and permit be paid. Any number we printed would be our own estimate rather than a sourced rate, and it would shift with season, boat, cabin grade and group size. We quote per trip instead.
02 Is the Alor marine park fee included in the expedition price?
No. Every diver in the Alor marine protected area must attend an MPA briefing, hold a permit and pay a marine park fee before any dive. We pass this through at cost rather than publishing a fixed number, because the amount is set by the MPA authority and confirmed when your permit is issued.
03 Are liveaboards or land-based packages cheaper in Alor?
Land-based packages at a Pantar resort — full board plus two or three dives daily — usually carry the lower nightly cost and reach 40-plus sites within 30 to 45 minutes by boat. Seasonal liveaboards through Alor–Pantar in the September–October window cost more per night but bundle cabins, all meals and remote-site access into one price.
04 Why is DAN dive insurance a separate, mandatory cost?
Because Alor is remote and the nearest hyperbaric chamber is in Bali, evacuation and chamber treatment are expensive and not covered by standard medical insurance. Licensed Alor operators require valid DAN or equivalent dive-accident cover before you dive, so budget for it separately — it is not built into package rates.
05 What is not included in an Alor diving expedition price?
Typical extras are flights to Kalabahi via Kupang or Bali, the marine park fee and permit, nitrox fills, full gear rental, DAN insurance, alcohol, tips and land tours. Our itemised quote lists every included and excluded line, so there are no surprises before you confirm.
